First-Year & Transfer Next Steps

Congratulations and welcome to Texas Woman’s!

There are a few things you need to do as a first-year or transfer student before classes start.

Step 1: Your Pioneer Portal Account

Pioneer Portal is where you will accept your scholarships and financial aid, register for classes and more. Your Pioneer Portal account must be set up before you can access your TWU Gmail account.

SelfService is where you can view your degree plan and class schedule. Use it to sign up for classes and make sure you are on track to graduate. For help with set up, contact servicedesk@catalog.mrshaydenworld.com or call 940-898-3971.

Step 2: Your TWU Gmail Account

  Set up your TWU Gmail account.

• Go to gmail.catalog.mrshaydenworld.com and log in with your Pioneer Portal login. The first login must be on a desktop or laptop computer. Your email login information is the same as your Pioneer Portal. Example: JPioneer@catalog.mrshaydenworld.com
• Follow the prompts to add your account
• You can access your TWU Gmail account anytime from gmail.catalog.mrshaydenworld.com or logging into your Pioneer Portal account at portal.catalog.mrshaydenworld.com

  Login and check your TWU Gmail daily.

We recommend checking your TWU Gmail account daily or once a week. This is where communication from TWU is sent, including scholarships and financial aid award letters, housing selection and enrollment information, so it's important to check it often. Step 3: Apply for Financial Aid

  Submit a free federal (FAFSA) OR Texas (TAFSA) application for financial aid.

Enter TWU's school code (003646) to ensure we receive your records. 

You may be asked to submit additional documents by TWU to complete the FAFSA process. Requests will be sent to your TWU email, so remember to continue checking your email account. If you receive a request for additional documents, it’s important you respond as soon as possible so your potential financial aid isn’t affected.

• Applications open: Oct. 1
• Renew FAFSA each year to qualify for more types of financial aid
• TWU's FAFSA priority deadlines:
  • Summer & Fall: Jan. 15
  • Spring: Sept. 1

Step 4: Apply for Scholarships

  Submit the TWU General Scholarship Application and automatically match with scholarships you qualify for.

• Fall deadline: March 1
• Spring deadline: Dec. 14

Step 5: Attend Orientation

 Register & attend orientation.
(You will meet with your advisor and sign up for classes during orientation)

• First-Year Students: Register online (required)
• Transfer Students: Register online (recommended) 
• Dallas Campus Orientation
• Houston Campus Orientation
• International Student Orientation

Step 6: Housing

Housing is required and guaranteed for students under 21, or with fewer than 60 credit hours.

Step 7: Pay Tuition & Fees

  Visit the Bursar to pay for classes.

Pay by the posted deadlines to avoid deleting your course schedule. Review your tuition charges and fees and learn how to sign up for installment payment plans with the Bursar's office.

Step 8: Immunization Records

  Submit your immunization records to the Registrar's office. Documentation may be scanned & emailed, mailed, hand-delivered or faxed to:

Final Steps for First-Year Students

  Submit final high school transcripts with graduation date.

  Check your Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Status in your Pioneer Portal.

  If needed, register for TSI and Accuplacer tests.

Final Steps for Transfer Students

  Submit final transcripts from your current college with all grades.
